Surface Finishes for CNC Machined Parts

Post-processing changes how a part looks, how it resists corrosion, and sometimes how big it is. Pick the finish at quoting stage so tolerance is calculated around it.

As MachinedStandard finish leaving subtle tool marks (Ra 1.6–3.2 µm). Nothing added, nothing to allow for dimensionally.

Bead BlastingUniform matte finish that removes tool marks. Common as a base layer before anodising.

Anodizing (Type II & Type III)Corrosion resistance and colour for aluminium. Type II for appearance, Type III for wear (adds measurable thickness).

Powder Coating & PaintingDurable colour coatings matched to RAL or Pantone. Thicker than anodising and suitable for steel as well as aluminium.
