Ultrathin Table Indexer (DA)

Details:

The Sango DA series ultra thin cam indexer is a low profile rotary indexing drive for machines where height is the limiting factor. It has a raised center plate that stays stationary and a large hollow bore, both surrounded by a rotating output flange. That lets you mount fixed tooling in the middle while the dial carries parts from station to station.

A preloaded globoidal cam turns continuous motor input into accurate, self locking stops with no backlash at the dwell. Compact assembly and test machines get the rigidity of a full size indexer in a much slimmer frame.

How the Ultrathin Table Indexer (DA) Works

\. How It Works

A motor drives the input shaft at constant speed. The globoidal cam on that shaft engages rollers on the output turret. During the indexing portion of the cam, the turret rotates exactly one station. During the dwell portion, the cam profile clamps the rollers, so the output holds position mechanically. No brake, encoder or servo holding current is needed.

What sets the DA series apart is its layout. The center plate stays fixed, only the outer flange rotates, and a large hollow bore runs through the middle. The cam, roller turret and output flange are packed into a shorter housing. The drive fits under benchtop machines and compact cells where a standard table model would raise the working height.

Each unit is configured to your application. The station count, the index to dwell ratio and the motion curve (modified sine as standard) are set by the cam. Give us your stations, cycles per minute and dial load, and we will match the frame size.

Why machine builders specify it

Six characteristics that come from the cam profile rather than from control software.

Low Profile Housing

A shorter body than a standard table type indexer keeps the dial at a comfortable working height and frees space for tooling above and below the deck.

Fixed Center Plate

The raised center does not rotate. Sensors, cameras, pick and place risers or pneumatic manifolds can mount right on the axis while the outer flange indexes.

Large Hollow Bore

Air hoses, vacuum lines, signal cables and power can run through the center instead of around the dial. Wiring stays short, protected and untangled.

Zero Backlash at Dwell

Preloaded cam followers lock the output at every stop and hold position mechanically, with no brake, encoder or servo holding current.

High Load Capacity in a Slim Frame

The output flange carries heavy downward loads and radial forces from assembly, riveting, pressing and test operations without losing position.

Motor and Control Ready

Supplied alone or with a gear motor, servo, overload clutch, cam switch and mounting plate, so it installs as a complete drive package.

Six mounting orientations

The same frame can be bolted base-down, wall mounted or inverted, and the motor can sit above, behind or in line. Quote the code with your order so the unit ships with the oil level and breather set for that orientation.

\. Applications H2: Machines That Use the Ultra Thin Indexer The DA series suits compact rotary dial machines where every millimeter of height counts. Typical uses include electronics and PCB assembly stations, battery cell assembly, medical device and syringe assembly, cosmetic and small bottle capping, connector and micro motor assembly, inspection and laser marking dials, and benchtop automation cells. Share your dial diameter, station count and cycle time, and our engineers will recommend a size and motor package with a dimension drawing.

What is an ultra thin cam indexer?

An ultra thin cam indexer is a low profile rotary indexing drive that uses a cam and roller turret to move a dial through fixed stations. It has a stationary center plate and a hollow bore. It is designed for compact machines where a standard table indexer would be too tall.
